We're All Downstream

We've had rain....
The kind of non-stop gully-washing rain, that drenched the parched grass and flowers, and gave a respite to the Summer heat.

Non-stop rain.
In some nearby areas, up to ten inches has fallen since midnight last night.

So much rain.
They've canceled the County Fair events this evening....can you imagine ?

I puddle up the neighborhood
I make the postman mad
I wake the worm and spank the frog
Sleeping on his lily pad
And when the tulips in their beds
Nod happily, it's true,
I shake the petals of their hands
And say, How do you dew?

We had the same kind of rain here in Virginia--The good part about it is that everything is getting so green and lush again; it looks like it's doing the same thing for you too!

Everything here is still so dry, we had a little bit of rain a week ago, but now it's all dry again. I can't wait for us to have a real rain again! I love the last picture, a friend of mine calls those "dewels" on the flower!

Blessed rain. I smelled it today for the first time in so long. We had it off and on all day. Amazing how much better everything looks.
Thanks for visiting me today.

I heard that some areas near you have had flooding rains... We had rain off and on all day long ---but only about 2 inches total--for the 2 days. I'm happy to have any rain here though .....

Hope there is no flooding in your area.

Beautiful pictures, Jo.
Hugs,
Betsy

We've had rain off and on for most of the day, but fortunately we didn't get the amounts that they've had in other places. Quite frankly I was glad to see the rain -- we needed it.

Oh, I can't believe it Jo. We had a brief shower yesterday, the first rain in a month. That and 100+ daily temps and everything is parched. I wonder what is lost.

I guess we'll take what we get, but sure wish for an inch or two of what YOU had. I hear more is on the way for Tennessee today! Praying for safety and protection from potential damage for all!

that is a lot of rain. we had 3 inches in 30 minutes. we are waiting for more. but don't want 10 inches at one time. the purple flower is beyond gorgeous. I have tried many times to get a clear photo of rain droppoing off the roof like this one, have not done it, always blurred. now i will have to try again. if and when it rains again

We had a mostly rainy 24 hours night before last and yesterday and it was glorious! No wind to knock out the power, just nice rain with occasional deluges. We heeded it so much and now all of outdoors looks so refreshed. The birds are splashing in the puddles, too!

Hope all is well in the areas that got too much rain.

Hugs!

Love your rain pictures and poem!
My favorite photo is the little girl sitting primly on her mossy seat.
However, I usually grab a good book when it rains instead of my camera. I may have to change that habit!

I just love you beautiful rain gauge.

I could have written that myself apart from the fact that we have not had as much as ten inches of rain. Just like olde England!

We're going to get some rain tomorrow and some wind too, I'm told. I hope it's not twelve inches worth!
