Late Spring Days

The Lavender is in bloom, I've tied bunches with garden string and hung from the herb rack to dry.
The smell is intoxicating.
We've had more than our share of rainfall this Spring, and the flowers are showing their gratitude for it.

The lightning bugs have returned,  a definite sign that Summer is just around the corner.
Almost June.....where do the weeks go...

Snoozing

Cats sleep, anywhere,
Any table, any chair
Top of piano, window-ledge,
In the middle, on the edge,
Open drawer, empty shoe,
Anybody's lap will do,
Fitted in a cardboard box,
In the cupboard, with your frocks-
Anywhere! They don't care!
       Cats sleep anywhere.

For The Birds

The Perennials have been slower to return this
year, mostly because we've had more than our fair share of frosts and freezes these early Spring days.
Better late than never.

The Goldfinches will soon be devouring the seeds of this Tickseed.
It makes happy little birds

“Sometimes goldfinches one by one will drop
From low hung branches; little space they stop;
But sip, and twitter, and their feathers sleek;
Then off at once, as in a wanton freak:
Or perhaps, to show their black, and golden wings,
Pausing upon their yellow flutterings.
Were I in such a place, I sure should pray
That nought less sweet, might call my thoughts away.”

John Keats

May Days

Our days have warmed up nicely, and all those April showers have surely graced us with an abundance of May flowers.

Grass seems to be greener, and blossoms seem to be brighter this Spring, it could be my imagination or a longing desire to see Mother Nature returning in all of her Glory.

To All Of Our Wonderful Mothers

Dedicated to all of our wonderful mothers, without whose unselfish, love and devotion, our lives would be forever changed.

A "Happy Mother's Day", I hope your day is filled with much loveliness.

You Were There

You were there when we took our first steps,
And went unsteadily across the floor.
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,
Until our steps took us out the door...

You worry now "Are they ok?"
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder" Where have my children gone?"

Where we are is where you have led us,
With your special love you showed us a way,
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make,
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.

And where we go you can be sure,
In spirit you shall never be alone,
For where you are is what matters most to us,
Because to us that will always be home...

Simple Pleasures

Strawberry season has arrived here in Middle Tennessee.
Handpick your own, or buy by the basketful.

When I was a young girl, I was allergic to fresh strawberries.
Thank goodness, I outgrew that sensitivity.

"As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful."

~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

The Merry Month Of May

Despite two frost-laden nights this past week, the Clematis has once again graced us with her stunning blooms.
May Days cometh.

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
Rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.

~Percy Bysshe Shelley, "The Sensitive Plant
