Autumn Longing

Ooh, it's been a glorious day......
One of those days, where the temperature has cooled, and the humidity has returned to the point of  tolerable.
A breezy porch-sitting day.

You can feel that Fall is in the air, just around the corner, and I'm excited,  because it is my favorite season.
I've always thought that because I was born in early November it's like a coming home of sorts, a kinship to my genetic roots.

"Whilst August yet wears her golden crown,
Ripening fields lush- bright with promise;
Summer waxes long, then wanes, quietly passing
Her fading green glory on to riotous Autumn."

~  Michelle L. Thieme : August's Crown

Well said! I also love Fall. I am certain it is because my birthday happens to be on the first day of Fall most years and guess what this happens to be one of those years!

P.S. I love your pictures. They take me on a journey every time I see them.

Yes, I to love the fall weather, with the smell of the fresh air and the odd fire place or bon fire burning. The colors of the trees and the cool breeze that carries an echo of the country side around us !

What a pleasant day to spend sitting on the porch!! Your picture of billowing curtains says it all.

I love Autumn, too, but was a springtime baby. Go figure!

Hugs!

Fabulous photograph. I am so looking forward to teh fall weather as well. I have half done exterior shutters I need to finish painting that have been languishing over the summer humidity :)

This has been a gorgeous week for sure here in TN, Jo.... BUT--I'll bet this is just a tease and that we'll get more hot weather before Fall officially gets here... WELL--that being said, I'll take the 'tease' anyday!!!!

Great picture.
Hugs,
Betsy

That photo reminds me of a dream I had many years ago and still hold dear in my heart. I too love the Autumn (even though I was born in March)for some reason I get all nostalgic and filled with irony, strange but I like it! Have a wonderful weekend Jo.

My birthday's in October and I feel the same as you - it is my favourite season. Over here in England we are having autumnal weather already. Today we had cool refreshing winds and the leaves started blowing. The elderberries are turning black and blackberries are ripening in the hedgerows. It's coming....you can feel it.
Loved your post.
Blessings, Star

What a pretty photo and a lovely poem. Glad you had such a great day. It's been a super one here too, with very little humidity. Fall is my time of the year. I welcome it and all its splendor. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Jo.

You're not the only one looking forward to autumn. I've had enough of hot and humid and look forward to the opportunity to sit and enjoy the breeze on the deck.

Hello again Jo,
I love Autumn. I love spring too but Autumn just seems to have that air of mystery about it. Maybe it's the anticipation of what the winter will be like...will there be lots of snow?...will it be a very cold winter?...did I do enough canning to get us by for the winter? Things to think about. I wish I could have my windows open like in your photo...living on the east side of a dirt road makes that impossible when the wind is out of the southwest as it is most of the summer. Believe me...when the wind changes direction the windows are all open if it's cool enough though! Have a wonderful day...Maura :)
