" The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color. Often at night there is lightning, but it quivers all alone. "

Beautiful! Still very hot days to come here. And then lovely cooler days of September
What a perfect quote! Lovely photos. Happy August to you. Stay cool.
Beautiful photographs and a wonderful capture on your third one.
Wishing you happy August days.
All the best Jan
I loved reading your post, sheer poetry of the season and your photography is beautiful 😊
August is deliciously intense. I can smell the soothing scent of those flowers.
GORGEOUS FLOWERS!
always lovely pics
Love your pics, Jo... especially that first one!
Beautiful blog
We are on the downhill side of the hot weather now. It's been cooler and less humid since it rained Friday evening and feels good outside right now.
Your gardens are eye-capturing...great colors.
Just love your scene-setting white fence. Is
it already time to wind down Summer? It seems to have happened so quickly. Will not
miss this year's heat....
Beautiful photos!! Be blessed!
Your pastel pink hibiscus is wonderful. My morning glories have pollen dust on them so they are bad shots. Your vines on the weathered fence is such a great idea.
