Out and About in The Country.....

Off Gallivanting.....

Today seemed like the perfect warm Summer's day to be out and about in the Tennessee countryside. OK to be honest, I had errands to run......

Stopped at my favorite little country cafe, The Whistle Stop Cafe, for a large iced tea, and piece of buttermilk pie :)

Want one of these......

A beautiful old farmhouse , I can imagine living here....

Old barn still in use......

Timeless architecture.....

Glimpse through the gate.....

Lovely pictures. I use to never notice my surroundings until I started driving with my camera. Now, I see beauty everywhere I go and I love it when I can stop and take a picture. Last week, I even carried my camera while mowing the yard! Two weeks before I missed some great shots because I didn't have it. 1) a huge bullfrog 2) and a big turtle sunning himself by our pond.....

They are really lovely photos. Was that a dry stone wall?

That was a lovely trip you took us on Jo, beautiful photos. I want one of those too. Often think of going out into the countryside with a few cubes of sugar in my pocket but haven't yet. Not sure if it's good for their teeth either ;)

I love these pictures! They are so serene. I bet the little cafe is the perfect place for home cooking southern style. Buttermilk pie sounds delicious!

And what a beautiful old house! Yes, I could imagine living there, too!

Blessings,

Andrea

I enjoy your photos so much. They make me want to visit (or live) in the South, near my Mother and sister. Nothing like Southern hospitality and your blog is full of it! Thanks for sharing!

Jo, that looks like a wonderful day. Is that you're garden and picket fence under the Lewis Carroll quote?

What a lovely time you must have had.
Delightful times out like this are so wonderful.
I haven't ever had Buttermilk pie.
Sounds tasty.
Blessings to you,

Thanks for taking us along on your drive through the countryside. The barn and fence take us back to the Tennessee of yesterday.

Southern Drawl: Glad you came along !

Milah: Yes, I find myself wagging my camera along everywhere these days, and your correct, there is always something of interest.

Gaston Studio: Are those not beautiful ?

Winifred: Yes a dry stacked stone wall.

Denise: I'll just keep dreaming :)

Benny and Patsy: Glad you enjoyed !

Rain Gardener: I wanted to take pictures of the town square, but the local policeman had someone pulled over giving them a ticket, I didn't think it was wise to be using a camera :)

Andrea: Yes, I love that house, it has just been remodeled to total perfection.

Robin's New Song: I know there is beauty all over this country, but in the South the slower pace seems to allow one to savor that beauty.

Pastor Sharon: Just as soon as I can "get loose" ;)

The Writers Porch: Aaw come visit anytime friend :)

Donna: No sorry, it's taken from Martha's Vineyard...oooh I wish it were mine, I have the picket fence.

Deanna: You MUST try Buttermilk Pie, it's simply delicious...

Betsy: Husband has finally gotten over what ailed him :)
The Whistle Stop cafe is in Watertown, a little town some fifteeen miles SW of Lebanon.

George: It's a reminder of a slower more gentler time, don't you think ?
