Cooling Off In The Heat......

The boots found work......

The front porch and house were power-washed today. A cooling alternate in the 96 degree heat.

Next: Replacing the landscaping.

Your house is the kind of house that I dream about living in one day. I hope that when my hubby and I move to Tennessee one day, we find a house like this. I called my parents in Hereford today. They were bragging that it was 72 degrees! Going to be 104 in California today

Hey Jo thanks for your comment today! The post got deleted after I tried to edit! Please come back and rad about what happened?

Your house is gorgeous and the landscaping needs replacing? Looks great to me!

I also admire your porch. Porches have played a wonderful part of living for me. Nothing says comfort and family to me like a porch. It doesn't have to be big, that of couse is a big bonus, but a place to sit a spell and visit. Pure delight. Oh, by the way. Turning off the music is a wonderful journey to the bottom of the page. I dare anyone to get there straight away. I've been to the button and back and the music is still playing and I have visited wouderful places along the way. Thanks for the trip. Can't remember how I found you, but I'll be back.

You all are getting the heat heavily down that way ... we are 72 today AND MORE RAIN ENROUTE! This hasn't been like this since either 1984 or 85. Everthing is drowning. Have a great day. TTFN ~Marydon

Your porch looks so inviting. I could sit there all day (in a cool breeze). I haven't even been out today. Too too hot!

A dream home, for sure. Looks like some great porch sittin' time.

Your house and porch are what southern living is to the south in Tennessee. Love it, mint juleps coming up.LOL

Your house looks just wonderful. I am envious. I would love to sit on a porch and read all day. Now, tell me you don't!

Hi Jo----I love your home. The porch looks SO inviting. I have never had good luck with ferns --but I love them. They need shade --and I've never had a shady porch. I tried putting one in the back yard hanging from one of the shade trees and it did pretty well. But--it died during the winter. I replaced it with a big pot of Impatiens.

Besides power washing your home and porch, did you 'power wash' yourself --just to keep cool??????

Hugs,
Betsy

Clare: I like houses with dormer windows, so it was a choice we had high on the list when looking at plans.

Carol: I read the "after post" on your blog, and will respond asap.
We have pulled almost all the landscaping up this past Spring, thinking we would replace it all before it became too hot...we were wrong, so now have to wait until Fall.

Cloudhands: Lovely to meet another fellow Tennessean, and thank you for the lovely comments. I hope to see you visit here often;)

FeedSack: I'm not one for the heat, then who is ? Maybe if I was young, and swimming all day.

Patti Cakes: So no cooler even east of here umph. It's almost depressing. Hope you are both staying well.

Smart Mouth: We enjoy it, because it feels like home. I would enjoy a tent if it felt comfortable, and had air conditioning...lol

Star: No sitting on the porch and reading a book here love, between work, housework, and "to do lists" there is only a few minutes in the evening, to sit and dream....what I do most.

Betsy: I have always had Boston ferns on the front porch, they look Southern and traditional I think.
Kind of like a Magnolia Manor...
I have flowering plants elsewhere, but through trial and error, always stick with the hanging ferns from the porches.
it's HOT and oh so uncomortable, and no rain, so having to water everything...darn

Jo, I just fell in love with your front porch! Can I come over for a glass of sweet tea? We can sit out there and talk about all your pretty flowers and that beautiful landscaping!

Jill: thank you, we have enjoyed it, and would always want one if we ever buy another home.

Pastor Sharon: Why sure ! Come on over, and I'll put the kettle on...lol
