Mother Nature Plays A Joke

I should have known better.

Here I was bragging away at how everything down in the South was blooming and pretty, after a week of temperatures in the seventies and eighties, and tonight we have a frost warning.

The First Sergeant, knowing I was chomping at the bit to buy the porch ferns, made the trip to our local Farmer's Co-operative and bought four of the prettiest, greenest Boston Ferns yesterday, tonight they lay on the garage floor.

I'll baby and feed them, until the weather breaks, at which time they'll take their turn hanging from the front porch, as all others, gone before, have.

Mother Nature and I, have to talk.

We also have things in the garage for the night. Hopefully there is danger of frost for only one night.

Hope you have not lost too many tender plants.
For all the lovely weather we are having at the moment,I know it is not normal for March.Last year at this time we were under snow and ice,so I have not put any plants in the garden yet in case mother nature plays tricks with us as well.

Same here Jo. Larry finished his macrame basket and hung it on the patio. He couldn't wait to go buy a spider plant to put in it. When we got to Home Depot, they didn't have any so we bought a different sort of indoor plant. It looked lovely in the basket. However, last night, amid much cussing and swearing, we had to bring the whole thing indoors again and it now hangs in the office. In England, as you know! we have a saying, which goes: 'n'er cast a clout til May is out'. Over here I'd call that April but it has the same warning, doesn't it.
Your porch does look lovely. I hope you get those ferns back out again soon.

Naughty Mother Nature! She doesn't play fair does she. I know those ferns will be beautiful hanging on your front porch. We woke up to a cool, chilly morning here today.

It turned off cold here in Viriginia, too. Be glad when it is patio sitting weather again.

Same here. The local garden centers don't really get veggie plants until mid-April because we're relatively safe from frost after that time.

March has been mostly warm, but the cold nights are back for a week.

Surely we don't have long to wait!

Hugs!

We actually got about 3 inches of snow, but it is gone now.

It is cold here and we had sleet this morning after having high
70's for a week. That is how spring will do us, up and down until she makes up her mind to stop playing with winter.

My favorite thing is a porch with ferns hanging. Same here with the weather. Supposed to have snow Sunday!
Love your blog.

Have a word with her for us too would you Jo....I'm so sick of these dull skies and cold temperatures and now the threat of snow. Enough is enough! Hope today is a sunny warm one for you.
