Autumn is in the air, and for the past three days we've been led to believe it's already upon us.
Cool mist-filled days, and cooler, crisp nights.
The trees are beginning their changing of color, yellows, oranges, and reds.
The songbirds now busily returning to their winter homes.
Cool mist-filled days, and cooler, crisp nights.
The trees are beginning their changing of color, yellows, oranges, and reds.
The songbirds now busily returning to their winter homes.
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

I have never read that poem before, and it's lovely. Thank you.
Hi Jo!
This really feels chilly! For the first time in over 15 years, I turned on the heat in the morning - before October 7th! I sure hope it is a fluke and not a sign....
Love the little cottage picture!
We're enjoying this cooler weather (and the rain) up here as well. We had a fire in the fireplace for the past two nights and it felt pretty good.
Loved the poem,it describes our cottage and it's garden perfectly.
We have had a fire every evening for the past couple of weeks,I have swapped my summer tops for sweaters and wear a fleece jacket when I go for my walk.
Carolyn.
I've been longing for fall to get here. We've been getting a tiny little taste of things to come. High 50's at night and around 80 in the daytime for last couple of days. Supposed to be back into the 90's this weekend. Gonna enjoy it while it lasts!
It seems like only yesterday we couldn't wait for spring, Now its autumn we look forward to.
I would like to say goodby to the mosquitos forever, but they will return in late spring.
Rainy days are here again, and Fall is just around the corner. It's amazing how quickly the season changes, signs of it everywhere.
I absolutely adore your sweet blog. So happy to have stumbled upon it. Of course I'll be your newest follower. Hope you stop by for a visit sometime.
xoxo,
Kim
Definitely Autumn. I saw some gorgeous acorns today when I went for a walk.
Autumn is my favorite season. Not just the cooler temperatures and colors, but hunting, and family togetherness really get all warm inside.
Hello Jo.....
Greetings from Wales UK. This poem by Keats is a favourite of mine and really depicts this time of year. Yes, here in Wales, there is that familiar autumnal smell in the air, watery sun, grass that doesn’t dry out all day and hedgerows full of blackberries and wild plums.... a time of plenty, a time for jam making and stashing away veggies from the garden in the freezer to be pulled in winter giving fond memories of warmer days.
Love the cottage scene you have chosen for this post. I am so familiar with this picture too.
Thank you for your sweet comments on the passing of dear George.
Have a great weekend. Marion
