Changing Seasons

Be clothed within an autumn mist
Of morning’s coolest dew
Look upward to the painted sky
Of season’s rusty hue
Step lightly midst the crunching leaves
That blow ‘pon hearty breeze
Then hunker down and lay their bed
Neath winters snowy freeze.

Be crisp the night with snap of chill
And short of day be warm
The sunset mirrors the changing leaves
As stars of night do form
The fields be tanned with burdened straw
Of summer’s life fulfilled
And autumn’s flowers, days be kissed
With season’s colors willed.

It sure is changing fast now, isn't it? It's not officially autumn yet!

This is sure a dreary day, perfect for a hearty soup and dumplings, I think! I wonder why days like this make us want 'comfort' food? (When a blanket and a nap would do)

Love the photo, but I suspect it wasn't taken this year. We're not nearly that far along over here in Morgan County, but we are getting some color in the Dogwoods. We have been having great temperatures and low humidity; I feel rejuvenated. Jim

This is such a great writing and the photo is marvelous. Fall can be sad as the world shuts down and sleeps. We wait for it's awakening with it's green surprises.

Greetings from Wales Jo...
Another beautiful tribute to Autumn complimented by an equally beautiful picture.

Yes, we are slipping into the first gentle days of autumn, with morning mists that linger and a mellowness to the countryside as the swallows gather in flocks ready for their long journey to warmer climes.

Despite the season's glorious colours, I feel there is a sadness in the air. Blessings - Marion
