We have spent the better part of Thanksgiving Day, eating and enjoying the company of family and friends alike.
We celebrated the tradition, ate too much food, and far too much dessert, since today was also my granddaughter's nineteenth birthday and decadent pies and cakes were tempting us everywhere we looked.
In the midst of eating dinner, I looked out of the window, only to find a flock of thirty or more wild turkeys merrily gobbling away.
I dare say, they were secretly chuckling.

I'm surprised so many got away. Our tradition is very much like yours as we also ate too much, especially of the desserts.

I'm glad they didn't all get into the pot! For all its celebrations, you do have to feel sorry for the turkeys. As an animal lover, I think about those sorts of things as no doubt you do. Does everybody? Maybe not.

Spared! And I guess wild turkeys actually taste, well, wild. That's what I've heard, I never had any. What a wonderful day you had! And I'm sure you will recover from all that food. It's the tradition to overeat, anyway!

That's funny! We were driving along the Highway to North Carolina on Thanksgiving Day and observed one wild turkey just strolling happily along the roadside. I said the same thing to my husband, "There's the one that got away!"
