Nesting

Winter weather has set in, cold and blustery.
There are whispers of the "s" word in the forecast, the hearth is lit, candles and twinkly lights glow.

A portly kitty sleeps.

"Surely everyone is aware of the divine pleasures which attend a wintry fireside; candles at four o’clock, warm hearthrugs, tea, a fair tea-maker, shutters closed, curtains flowing in ample draperies to the floor, whilst the wind and rain are raging audibly without."
 ~ Thomas De Quincey 1796

What a beautifully apt description of a winter afternoon - - and the illustration is sweet.

This quote is definitely one of my all time favorites. I am actually looking forward to some days like this.

Even when we are not snowed in the fireplace makes our living room so cozy. The dark long days just means we have to find ways to get cozy.

Yes, please put the kettle on... I'm in the mood for tea. Jo, tell me your favorite tea. I imagine you probably use loose tea. My favorite is Tetley's Irish or English Breakfast tea (bags) and I use cream (evaporated milk) in it (I think it's supposed to be milk but my mom only had evaporated milk after the war and that's what I'm used to). Wishing you a happy healthy safe 2024!
