An Iris Blessing
The Tennessee State Flower
May your blooms be floriferous and in good form,
Distinctive, with good substance, flare, and airborne,
With standards and falls that endure, never torn.
May you display many buds and blooms sublime,
In graceful proportion on strong stalks each day,
Gently floating above the fans and the fray.
May you too reach toward the moon and stars,
Bloom after bloom, many seasons in the sun,
Enjoying your life, health, and each loved one,
Until your 'living days are artfully done.

So lovely. Only this afternoon after driving through the neighborhood, I saw a garden full of the most amazing purple iris' and thought now that's what I want in my garden. Yours look equally gorgeous!
I just wish they bloomed all summer.
Very sweet. I love the bearded irises. Enjoy!
Wonderful...I have never heard this passage before.
Hello Jo,
Your irises are beautiful! They really are a gorgeous flower but there were only a handful of them at the back of the cottage when we moved here. The other day my sister in law gave me a bucket full of them so next year hopefully I will have pictures of my own! I hope your weather has dried up this week...we are still experiencing drought conditions and the grass crunches when you walk across it. We could sure use some rain. I hope the rest of your week is a good one.
Maura :)
What a beautiful bloom Jo. I really enjoyed the poem too. Hugs!
Lovely photo and post. Iris's arent that popular over here dont know why they sure are pretty. Have a great day !
Beautiful!
We have purple, lavender, deep yellow, pale yellow, and white iris in bloom now and they are a delight.
Hugs!
They are my favorite flower! And ours are nowhere near ready to bloom. I will enjoy yours in the meantime. How absolutely beautiful!
Hi Jo, How are you? Knee? Hope you are feeling MUCH better.
