Christmas Shopping

It's a bone-chilling 20 degrees in our fair city this early morning, no cloud coverage, and hoar frost white as snow.

I ventured amongst the masses yesterday, taking myself off to the thronging Christmas shopping mart, I must confess, it's not my cup of tea.
I much prefer the kind of shops that are a 'hole in the wall' kind of place, chocked with antiques and time-worn utilitarian pieces, their finishes worn with years of use and enjoyment.

Today's a day of work for me, so the shopping will go on hold. It's not looking promising to finish checking my list !

Hi,
Have just found your blog, really great !! I am from Devon, England and we currently have alot of snow, which is unusual and most things have ground to a halt as we are not used to the snow !! Your blog is great and I cant wait to read all from the beginning,
Happy Christmas to you and your family,

It's 21*F here with frost and still lots of Thursday's snow, frozen hard.

Today it is my turn to venture forth to the shopping mall for a few last items. I prefer the small shops like you do and would be delighted with any gift from there, but not everyone on my list feels that way.

I hope you have a chance to finish your shopping!

Hugs!

The shopping malls are really hectic at this time of year, except over here at the moment, where they are deserted because no-one can get to them. I think Christmas could last a long time this year.
I prefer the smaller shops too Jo.
Blessings, Star

It has surely been colder than normal! The frost sparkling in the first morning sun, is pretty though!

Guess the only shopping we will be doing, is a food run, you know - dog food, cat food and a few things for ourselves. Think we will wait till it warms up a bit though. Brrr!

Good luck with your next shopping trip! Maybe you will finish the list next time.

So glad my shopping is done! Though my eyes will be open while in Paris tomorrow. Never know what one may find that one just can't live without!
Happy Holidays!

Ohhhh, I never hit the malls. Too many people pushing and shoving for me. I'm an internet shopper. Much safer with no risk of being trampled.

You sound like a kindred heart. That's why I went all homemade on my Christmas tree this year and all gifts for adults are homemade. I'm sending over strawberry/blueberry freezer jam, dill pickles, bread & butter pickles, homemade candy, and a warm loaf of banana walnut bread to the neighbor.

I love the shops where the wares have a story to tell!

You are brave heading out in the cold. It's raining and in the high 40's here in SoCal. I ventured out for a walk in the rain, but got soaking wet even with an umbrella. Merry Christmas to you my friend.

Oh my that is cold. I've just had to convert from Centigrade to Fahrenheit to work it out. It's very cold in the North East of England but surprisingly we haven't the snow they seem to have in the rest of the country. The south is usually quite a bit warmer than the North but not this time. Still it's been very sunny and dry so not too bad.

Hope you get your shopping finished OK. I'm with you I don't like shopping centres but our towns and cities seem to be going that way all looking exactly the same! You could be in London or Manchester they're all the same. Give me York anyday! Have a wonderful Christmas and a great year in 2011.

Yep, just 4 more shopping days! Do I feel behind? That's a big YES. But I'm pretty well done. I'm trying to enjoy the beauty surrounding this time of year--the lights, the music, thoughts of the Savior, reading books about Christmas. I love this time of year. It helps us reflect on giving and serving. Have a great holiday!

I dislike the cold to get into the malls and I don't like the crowds anymore. It use to be fun but now it has become a hassle. I am glad I found all the things that I needed today and won't have to return.
