Purrfect

What cats do for us

Warm our laps...
Give us someone to talk to...
Help reduce high blood pressure..
Create a "kindred" feeling with other cat people...
Turn common household objects into cat toys...
Make us more aware of birds...
Donate their services as alarm clocks...
Display daring acrobatic feats in front of our eyes...
Contribute to living a longer life...
Make a window sill more beautiful..
Keep mice on the run...
Make us smile...
Inspire Poets and Playwrights...
Teach us how to land on our feet...
Let us indulge our desires to spoil someone...
Make our homes warmer...
Remind us that our life is mysterious...
Share with us the all-is-well purring experience...
Instruct us in the luxurious art of stretching..
Show us how to lick our wounds and go on...
Give us cool cartoon characters...
Make even an old warn couch look beautiful...
Open our hearts...

Hello Jo!
Funny you should post this tonight...I was out with my camera trying to capture all the dust that has been flying around here for the last two days when one of our cats Olly (Oliver) came out to the lane with me. I put him up on an old tree stump and got some nice pictures of him and figured I'd post them soon. I never really liked cats much before we got Olly and his sister Lizzy...now I don't know what we did without them! Love your little sweetie...such a life! Have a wonderful week. Maura :)

Hi Jo, I love hearing from both cat lovers and dog lovers. I've had both through the years... I had a cat all through high school. Her name was Snowball and she was such a sweet kitty. When I went to college, I missed her so much. She died that next year --and it was hard to go back home when she wasn't there.

Great poem and picture.
Hugs,
Betsy

We can learn a lot from our cats. Oliver doesn't seem to have a care in the world...so cute :)

My cat also does all of those things. When I am away in Tennessee, she is another beating heart in the house to keep Jim company. I love your cat, love it, love it, love it!

They add such joy to our lives. I expect I should live long as I have been surrounded by them all my life. I now live with 5 senior cats and 2 visiting cats and I love them all.
Have a purr-fect day. Hugs, Deb

soooo relaxed I can hear the loud purring from here. Just change the word cat in your poem to dog and it works also. try having a 57 pound dog on your lap. what fun and of course they don't purr, but they do snore

The purr of a cat is so heavenly, and you're right, they sure know how to stretch and luxuriate in the moment. Love your poem.

Wonderful photo of Oliver! The narrative is so apt. We are dog people but have had two cats since a stray - in labor- arrived in distress at our door. We had hosted mother and son for the 6 years since and they are an endless source of laughs.

Hugs!

I used to claim that I was a "dog person" until a cat adopted me...and now I cannot imagine life without the wonderful companionship of my sweet kitties!

Your cat is precious.

Oh, what a lovely post. So glad I visited here today. Cats are so interesting, aren't they? They definitely are my favorite of God's creatures. I've enjoyed listening to you soothing music, also. Have a wonderful rest of the week.
