In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Beautiful poem and so appropriate right now in the States.
Beautiful picture. I bet you miss England a lot.
That is one of my favorite Christmas Carols.
Beautiful poem.. the picture is so serene with the umbrella of trees.. the road looks long, searching for Spring...

I think this picture is to beautiful to be considered bleak. At least you can see some colors.
Ah yes, snow on snow is the way it should be said. I really like the poem and the picture. We have sunshine today and a promise of no snow for four more days.
Hi Jo, such an appropriate poem to go with a very beautiful wintry scene. I have my comment problem sorted out now. Color me happy! :)
Lovely photo.

Great photo and such a well fitting verse.
I love that poem / Christmas Carol - Great pic to illustrate.
Love this photo. I had to photograph some of our scenes here in north Alabama.
Hi Jo, Great picture and one of my favorite winter hymns... We have about 8 inches of snow and it's still coming down here. SO PRETTY.
Hugs,
Betsy
So true for our midwinter year.

Ah, it's not so bad...... just curl up with a Dickens novel beside a warm crackling fire and eat a bacon butty followed by a great big bowl of bananas in custard (LOL) I'm teasing, of course ((((((((Jo))))))))))))
Blessings, Star
I love this photograph of the snow. I live in SoCal so we don't see these beautiful views.
I just posted some pictures of the spring flowers we are having sprout up way too early, thanks to the incredible warmth we're having in the PNW. Great in some ways, terrible for the Olympics!
Well the promised snow for valentines did not happen, just cold wind and then rain, this is bleak, not snow though, snow is clean and white ,refreshing, romantic even! Wind and rain is the opposite, give me snow on snow any day.
I was very surprised when i viewed my blog that you are a follower! I love your blog. The pictures and the poetry are beautiful. My husband is from Rockwood Tenn. Cades Cove is just one of our favorite places.
The poem, and the picture are perfect and echo the mood of my "neck of the woods!"
A beautiful website you have made. It is a pleasure to look at and to read -- and remember -- Christina Rosetti and The Wind in the Willows and all. I will revisit.
Nice to see Delamere Forest!
