It's A Good Thing...

Is there anything more delicious than the smell of banana nut bread baking ?
The aroma completely fills the house, and tantalizes the sense of smell.
As "Martha" would say..."It's A Good Thing".

Banana Nut Bread

1/2 cups of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
4 mashed ripe bananas
1/4 c softened butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 T buttermilk 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Make the Banana Bread

The best banana bread is made with very ripe bananas that are easily mashed.

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Grease and flour a 9x5" loaf pan.
Sift or whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Cream together the butter and sugar.
Add the bananas, eggs, vanilla and milk to the sugar mixture.
Add pecan pieces.

Gradually stir in the flour mixture.
Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan.
Bake at 350° for about an 45- 55 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Hi Jo, AND--as you know, the riper the bananas, the more flavor they provide.... I love banana bread. I also love pumpkin bread in the fall... YUM!!!!

Thanks... You've made me hungry.

Jo, let me tell you the only thing better than banana bread. When I was staying at The Del recently, they had taken a banana bread and put in into large muffin tins filled with pecans and caramel. They called them banana caramel sticky buns and they were just to die for. I am planning to try and replicate them.
