My Main Squeeze

There's nothing more welcoming in the Southern summer heat, than sitting on a porch sipping a tall, cold glass of homemade lemonade.

Ingredients
2 cups sugar
1 cup of HOT water
2 cups of fresh lemon juice ( approx 12 lemons )
1 gallon cold water
1 lemon, sliced
Mint sprigs for garnish

Directions
In a 1 gallon container, place sugar and hot water, and stir until sugar dissolves.
Add lemon juice and cold water to render 1 gallon. Stir until well mixed.
Pour lemonade over glasses of ice, squeeze slice of lemon on top of each, and garnish with a sprig of mint.

Oh yum Jo....this looks so refreshing. Now I wish I had bought fresh lemons when we went to the city the other day! You know...I've NEVER made fresh lemonade so I think I'm going to give this a try. Hubby can't have much citrus so he makes iced tea so this would be ALL MINE...pretty much ;) Oh I also wanted to tell you that I made your Lemonade Pie and it was DELICIOUS...hubby wanted it every night until it was gone and he had huge pieces. Anyway he told me to tell you 'thank you!' :) I hope you have a wonderful Forth OF July...

When I was a kid my Mom made real, hand squeezed lemonade...nothing like it in the summertime. Unless it was old timey southern ice tea. Which poured like 40W motor oil because it had so much sugar in it. Sadly I don't do sugar (or tea for that matter) that much anymore but I can sure remember how good these homemade refreshers tasted on a steamy hot southern day!
