Lest We Forget

"Your silent tents of green We deck with fragrant flowers;
Yours has the suffering been, The memory shall be ours."

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

~ Laurence Binyon: For the Fallen 1914

Awhile back you posted on fireflies & that very weekend we had an article in our local paper about sights to see this summer.In Tenn every June there is a meadow in the Great Smoky Mts.about 6 miles southwest of Gatlinburg,the national park service runs buses to the site from the Surgarlands Visitor Center to watch the fireflies display.The link is www.nps.gov/grsm/synchronous fireflies.phylliso

Some day G and I will be there. Today now home, I shall stop by and see if my friend Dale's spot is still findable in the resurfaced National Cemetery here. You have a great day.
