February Days

Our days have been filled with glorious sunshine.
The daffodils are shooting up from the ground, offering the promise of spring.
I tidied around the porches and fiddled in the potting shed yesterday, it's hard to stay cooped up when the sun is shining.
The laughter of school children could be heard, enjoying a few hours of playtime before darkness draws in.
Wishing you peace, in whatever little corner of the world, you call home.....

News From Gobbler's Knob

Rabbits have been making a show in the garden, nibbling on the new shoots of grass.
The songbirds are once again appearing , a good sign that life is beginning to awaken.
It appears that winter is not yet over, according to the legendary groundhog Punxsutawney Phil.
Six more weeks and hopefully we'll be well on our way to warmer days and blue skies.

Iced Over

If given the option, I would have chosen snow.
Soft, white flakes blanketing the ground.
Instead, we are covered in ice.
Trees, houses, vehicles, bird-feeders.
No snowballs today.

February Days

After days of being cocooned in a blanket of white, temperatures have slowly warmed and sunshine has once again become our welcomed companion.
My plans were to clean-up around the garden today, but melting snow has the earth completely soaked, not the best kind of conditions if you are unsteady underfoot.
The tiny birds have reappeared, happily foraging amongst the bushes and shrubs, no longer a prisoner in their little nests made of sticks.
An entire week without venturing farther than the front porch, my to-do list is as long as my arm.

February Days

The rain has finally stopped.
Our state has endured the most rainfall on record in the past 139 years for the month of February, rivers are out of their banks, livestock has been moved to higher ground.
The grass is growing at a crazy rate, the little toad house has been occupied more than once this rainy season, the frogs are happy....

February Rain

Our start to the weekend has been a wet one.
Rain, and more rain.
Perfect for spending a cozy day inside, and nesting, because tomorrow it's supposed to soar to 74 degrees and I feel my gardening shoes calling .......
