March Comes In Like A Lion

A typical start to the month of March, despite the sun shining brightly, the wind is blustery and cold.

I've been busy as a bee, changing out the now-tired Winter decorations and replacing them with Springtime favorites.
The birds are feathering their nests, fluffing and cozying for the next generation.
A season of re-birth, promising new beginnings and hopefulness, in an otherwise chaotic world.

" It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold, when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade."

Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

February Days

Our days have been filled with glorious sunshine.
The daffodils are shooting up from the ground, offering the promise of spring.
I tidied around the porches and fiddled in the potting shed yesterday, it's hard to stay cooped up when the sun is shining.
The laughter of school children could be heard, enjoying a few hours of playtime before darkness draws in.
Wishing you peace, in whatever little corner of the world, you call home.....

May Days

glorious mid-spring morning starts our day. Blues skies and sunshine aplenty.

I have Mother's day plants to get in the ground, so trying to hurry before the rain comes our way later in the week.
The distant sound of lawnmowers whirling is the only disruption to an otherwise peaceful respite.

Heavenly-Scent

Enjoying a new candle as of late,  intoxicatingly delicious, especially on these early March days, when the sun shines hot and the winds blow cold....

All Change

Our days have been filled with glorious sunshine.
The daffodils are shooting up from the ground, offering the promise of spring.
I tidied around the porches and fiddled in the potting shed yesterday, it's hard to stay cooped up when the sun is shining.
After a welcomed, warm and sunshiny day, today it's back to rain, dark and dreary.
A cozy day to enjoy inside.
Wishing you peace, in whatever little corner of the world, you call home.....

Hello Sunshine

The sun returned today.
A balmy 70 degrees worth of the stuff, bathing our winter souls in some much needed warmth.
I tidied the potting shed, and pottered around in the garden, the warmth on my face felt exhilarating.
There are new plant shoots poking out of the soil, I trust they know that winter is not yet over.
The Saucer Magnolia trees are in bloom......in early February !
Oliver snoozed.

Sunshine And Shadows

The calendar tells us it's almost November, and yet our days are still filled with hours of sunshine.
86 degrees worth of the stuff, and no rain in over five weeks now.
Watering the shrubs has become a ritual, the ground is parched and cracked.
November days ahead and we are still wearing shorts and flip-flops.
At this rate, we'll be doing our Christmas shopping in them.

Hello Sunshine

The sun returned today.
Bathing our winter souls in some much needed warmth.
I ran errands, tidied the potting shed, and returned the last of the holiday decorations to their shelves.
Oliver snoozed.
There are new plant shoots poking out of the soil throughout the garden, I trust they know that Winter is not yet over.

Sunshine And Shadows

Goodness the weather has turned bitterly cold.
The sun has shone all day long, but the wind has been horrendous, and temperatures have barely made it over the freezing mark.
A hard freeze blanketed the ground overnight, and a repeat performance expected tonight....

I thought about venturing out to the Christmas market... that's as far as I got.
Some souls are braver than others.

Heads Above The Rest

Make Hay While The Sun Shines

The rains have finally stopped, and the sunshine has returned, at least for now.
Do you know how tall the grass can grow when you skip a few lawn-mowings ?
Infinitely so........

Blue skies and sunshine and finally a chance to return to the garden.

Farmers are trying to get their hay baled.
Baling wet hay is just asking for trouble.

I like to dot solar-powered lights and whimsical pieces between the flowers and plants.
This sweet little bird faucet lights up at night, and looks like bubbling water is flowing from it's spout.
Whatever your plans this weekend, I hope they are filled with sunshine and flowers ~

Sunshine And Shadows

It's been awhile since shadows have appeared.
The ground has been frozen, and grey skies prevailed for most of the Winter months.
The sun shining brightly gives hope of Spring day's ahead, and affords us a little well-deserved warmth on our faces.

Oliver enjoyed the sunshine

Sunshine And Shadows

The calendar reads December, but with sunshine and balmy breezes today, it feels more like Summertime.

The Vinca has decided to bloom one more time, despite earlier freezes.
It's such a hardy little vine.

Oliver couldn't resist a late afternoon snooze.

Sunshine And Shadows

It's been awhile since shadows have appeared.
The ground has been covered in white, for most of it's January days.
The sun shining brightly gives hope of Spring day's ahead, and affords us a little well-deserved warmth on our faces.

Sunshine And Shadows.

It's been awhile since shadows have appeared.
The ground has been covered in white, for most of it's February days.
Shadows 'don't do' white.

The wrought iron gate took on a whole new look, silhouetted against the wooden porch.

A strange circle of light appeared in the sky, and stayed there until nightfall.

Signs of warmer days , turns my thoughts to flowers.
