Summer's Serenade

Almost an entire month has passed since we have been graced with a decent amount of rain.
If we didn't commit to watering faithfully everyday, the shrubs and flowers would have been long gone by now.
It's a never-ending chore, but we've learned from experience, and keep hoping when those clouds roll in at dusk, we will see a little relief.

"The steady buzzzzzzz of the Katydid chorus,
the bass solo of the croaking Frog,
the steady woof-woof-woof a barking Dog
- a summer night's serenade."

~Michael P. Garofalo : Cuttings

I do love your summer serenade. Sounds lovely. I just began hearing a few cicada's several days ago in the late afternoon. It is difficult to keep up with the watering. Thank goodness we have much shade to keep the watering more as a weekly chore. Of course all the large pots need water quite a bit. It is predicted July will be the same. Makes one a little weary, but I do love sitting out in the shade in a cool breeze, as today has provided. Take care in your beautiful part of the woods.

Just gorgeous!

Looking at your blog is like being psychic... looking into the future... because what is blooming for you down in TN will be blooming for me up in NY in a few weeks... 8-)

The hot dry weather never seems to change the cool lush beauty of your yard and gardens. It has been the same here. We were about to give up when a wonderful shower of rain came right over us...then another yesterday. So thankful. Your place is always so beautiful.

Jo, your garden is amazing (and I don't use that word lightly!). I'm glad you're able to keep it going through the rainlessness and heat.

I love morning glories even though they are invasive. And, that color purple! Wow!
