Respite

Summer days are slowly waning.
Thankfully we've been graced with rainfall this past week, the flowers and humans are grateful.
The deer have been drinking nightly from the birdbaths, a little respite from their daily trek to the nearby pond.
I'm looking forward to cooler days, as with so many others.

Summer's Serenade

Almost an entire month has passed since we have been graced with a decent amount of rain.
If we didn't commit to watering faithfully everyday, the shrubs and flowers would have been long gone by now.
It's a never-ending chore, but we've learned from experience, and keep hoping when those clouds roll in at dusk, we will see a little relief.

"The steady buzzzzzzz of the Katydid chorus,
the bass solo of the croaking Frog,
the steady woof-woof-woof a barking Dog
- a summer night's serenade."

~Michael P. Garofalo : Cuttings

Rain-Less

We have been without rainfall for over a month now.
Our Autumn days have been unusually dry, considering throughout the Spring and Summer seasons we had more than our share of rain.
The lack of moisture will affect our Fall leaf show, trees have begun to lose their leaves, with very little color in sight.
The sunsets however remain spectacular.
