If you listened carefully you could hear the trees and flowers, heaving a big sigh of relief, their roots and foliage drinking in every last drop of moisture.
The temperatures fell, and for the first time in several weeks we are enjoying a tolerable 75 degrees.
How lovely is this....
.
How beautiful is the rain!
After
the dust and heat,
In
the broad and fiery street,
In
the narrow lane,
How
beautiful is the rain!
How
it clatters along the roofs,
Like
the tramp of hoofs,
How
it gushes and struggles out
From
the throat of the overflowing spout!
Across the window-pane
It
pours and pours;
And swift and wide,
With
a muddy tide,
Like a river down the gutter roars
The rain, the welcome rain!
~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Terrible storm blew through last night, 80 mph winds and thankfully rain, but I want to know who's going to pick up all this mess the wind left behind...
We've missed all of the rain lately --but at least, we've had several days of cooler temps....
Love the poem --since I do love RAIN....
Glad they decided to name the Royal Baby "GEORGE"--after 'my' George of course... ha ha

We have blessed relief from the heat as well, thank goodness! No rain but at least not to hot. Enjoy the gentle tap-tap-tap of your raindrops!
Love~ Andrea
XOXOXO
Well, this is ONE day we haven't had any rain here! It is a welcome change! My husband has done the mowing, and I picked blueberries.:-)
I am so thankful for the rain! We had such high heat and humidity here in Montreal we really needed it. Your photo and music are lovely.
We had rain too here in Texas. It was lovely to sit on the covered porch and enjoy the cooler breeze. It's so odd to enjoy the rain - when I lived in England it was such a nuisance - probably all those years of standing in it at the bus stop!

lovely picture and I love when it rains.
Wow!
I just stumbled upon your blog.
It is truly beautiful.
Blessings!

We here in the Pacific Northwest have seen no rain in over a month. It's been lovely in some ways, but I do miss the drops on the flowers. It will return, I know. So glad you finally have some relief from the heat. :-)
you find the most beautiful poems. Are they ones you already knew or have you looked for them? I am always looking for ones I have never seen before

This is such a beautiful shot. I didn't have any volunteer morning glories this year. I will plant them next year. Take care.
