Awakening Days

We've had the balmiest of weather this winter.
For example today reached a high of seventy seven degrees......in February !

The warmer weather, has forced the Iris shoots to poke through the soil.
I trust they know that Winter is not yet over.

The bird feeders have been a flurry of activity, and I've witnessed Spring cleaning of the birdhouses.
A busy little Carolina Wren, with her beak full of feathers, moss and sticks, flinging it all so recklessly with little regard for it's former tenant.

The deer have been visiting nightly

There are definite signs of spring.
Even the Lamb's Ear is looking perky.

Yesterday when I went out the front door three deer clomped by in a flurry. I guess they weren't expecting me. Love your pictures of spring! And yes, that is darn close to being HOT weather! In February! :-)

so different from the winter of 2010-2011 when almost all the blogs I visited were begging for spring to come...this year it's "what happened to winter"...hopefully no heavy frost or freezing for the plants who've felt the warmth and responded!

Hi Jo, YES---winter has been very mild here this winter. Yesterday--the temp got up to almost 70.. Felt like SUMMER....ha

We have Crocuses and Daffodils blooming now... I'll post some early spring blooms sometime next week...

Let's just HOPE and PRAY that a winter cold blast won't kill our spring beauties!!
Hugs,
Betsy

It's so nice to see Spring somewhere. We are having a harsh winter.

Hello Jo,
We have had the mildest winter this year. Sure nothing like last year. My lilac bush is getting buds...I hope it will be okay. I got the start for it from my mom's favorite lilac bush, right after she passed, so I really want it to be okay. Smiles to you, only 25 more days till Spring. xoxo, Susie(She Junks)

We didn't get into the seventies yesterday, but did get close. Today Old Man Winter is staging a come-back, even though we do have bulbs in bloom. The birds have been busy here as well.

I know Mother Earth is busy preparing us for wonders yet to come!
She is not finished yet- even though it may seem that way at your home.
We have cold still and rain.
Mother Earth stirs the earth with the winds.
