I happened upon this Johnson Brothers Barnyard King plate at one of the local antique shops several months ago.
One plate all by itself, I could only imagine what an entire dinner service would have looked like.
I'm going to display it for the Thanksgiving season, the colors on this picture do not do the piece justice, they are all hand engraved and made in England.
Barnyard King, what could be a more fitting name.

That's a manly plate. Gorgeous!
I've always thought turkeys were hopelessly weird looking, but this guy's handsome!
That's really beautiful Jo, you do find some pretty plates.
What a coincidence, my Grandfather had this same plate!! I have great memories of it, and it was given to my sister. I seem to recall that the one we had was circa 1950's, but I know they were made in the 60's as well because at one point I had tried to find one for myself. I always loved the pattern with the squirrels and the ducks among the plants--Sorry to ramble, but I got so excited when I saw it...It's really a lovely piece and perfect for the holiday!!
A fantastic find it is lovely. Have a wonderful eve.
That plate is simply gorgeous Jo! It truly does deserve to be displayed during the holidays.
Such rich colors. Love it!
Hello Jo!
What a beautiful plate...I love these farmyard tablesettings. I've got Johnson Bro's Blue Willow but it would be wonderful to have a full set similar to your plate/platter to bring out in November. Enjoy and good luck finding more pieces!
Maura :)
beautiful detail
Dear Jo, I think your one beautiful plate can make a Happy Thanksgiving statement. I like it.Some times I look at an old melmac dish at my daughter's, that I use to have the whole set:) It takes me back to when my daughters were small and life was simple... compared to now. Smiles to you , Susie
what a delightful plate
Great find! He's a handsome one. Perfect for Thanksgiving.
Very pretty. Shall you look out for the others now? Perhaps you want to collect them?
A very handsome plate for the holidays!
I can't believe it, I was on ebay last week looking at these! I chose another Johnson Brothers pattern, Friendly Village, but these turkey plates are marvelous as well. In fact, they would look great with the Friendly VillAGE. Guess I will get back on EBAY!
Jeri: I have the Friendly Village too, I just love those themes...
You will enjoy both sets :)
~Jo
Oh, it's beautiful!
It is a gorgeous plate. They are like art works that you have to appreciate and just dream about having the whole set.
