I seem to be in the midst of a hibernation, only roused on the days I need to meet outside obligations.
What is it about the changing seasons, that leave us wanting nothing more than a cozy place to nest.
A place in front of the hearth, surrounded by the tea kettle singing on the hob, slippers warming by the fireside, and a portly cat purring at our side.
A time to daydream.

this little house fits all your desires. here in FL i am sitting on a leather sofa, barefoot in my summer gown, with laptop on my lap and coffee in my cup. not quite the same romantic sound to that, is it? i would love a fireplace and a chair in front of it, just like this picture. oh well.... here i am and enjoying yours
Even a sun craving old twit as myself I do so love our long nights by the fire with good books and conversations. So glad I stocked up on firewood this last spring.

That drawing is so evocative. It makes me want to transport myself into that exact moment. I've been enjoying slowing down as the weather's been getting colder. I love having time to daydream, and it's hard to find in the Internet age.

I love 'The Wind In The Willows'...we used to watch it when the children were little up in Canada. We had a few days (right after the dust storm) of rainy cool weather and I loved it. I felt like cooking something hearty so I made pot roast and homemade buns and cookies. We didn't start the fire then but we have lit it the last few mornings. Now it's going to be in the 80's for the next couple of days! I really am looking forward to the chilly weather but first I need to get my daffodils planted and veggie garden cleaned up. Then the weather can do what it likes...hopefully it will rain. Enjoy your fire... your cup of tea!
