Snow today !
It's predicted for much of the coming week, with no more of the sixty degree weather we have been enjoying these past few days.
Such is the pleasure of living in the American South, one day wearing flip-flops, the next furry Ugg boots.
I've made a hearty fifteen bean soup today, chocked full of country ham, celery, onions, tomatoes, carrots, garlic, rosemary and chili spice.
Served with a slice of buttermilk cornbread, it's the ideal comfort food, on a Winter's day.
Come join us for a bowl.
We'll leave the light on for you !
If you feel like making your own pot, here's the original recipe.
I also add sausage meat ( of your choice)
Fresh Rosemary (1tablesoon) crushed
Two chicken stock cubes
Two sliced carrots
Two stalks of celery

Oh I wish I was there! I just love soups like yours with a big slice of cornbread.
The pond next door is frozen, my windows are iced over and I'm snuggled up in the recliner with my blanket, so your post is quite fitting!

Yum! I have a big meaty ham bone left over from Christmas. I thought I'd buy beans today at the grocery and would you believe they were sold out? haha. It must sound good to everyone!

When I was a young lad and life was a bit lean, meals consisted of watery soup for many of our meals. I swore I would never eat soup again. But with age reality becomes one's friend again and so has soup, I just love a good hardy soup.

Fifteen Bean Soup is my absolute FAVORITE soup of all time. I never get tired of it and make it several times each year. Now that I’ve seen this, I may have to make it this weekend but I was thinking about a butternut squash soup I saw a few minutes ago. Maybe I’ll make both :)

Our weather is miserably cold and bleak with no let up for the foreseeable future,it is stew and soup time.

Oh that soup looks good Jo. Thanks for the recipe...it looks as though we could use that later this weekend as they're predicting our first snow of the winter on sunday and Monday and MUCH colder temperatures. Oh well ...it was bound to happen. At least we'll have the wood stove to keep us warm on the outside and your soup to keep us warm on the inside. You stay warm and safe too.
