What is it about cold Winter days, that leave us wanting nothing more, than a cozy place to nest.
A place in front of the hearth, surrounded by teakettles singing on the hob, slippers warming by the fireside, and a portly cat purring at our side.
A time to daydream.
"What a ripping little house this is! Everything so handy! "
~Mole's house: Wind in the Willows
Love that picture and that quote. That's how I feel about our little house :) Hope you're staying warm Jo...would love to sit by your fire and have a cup of tea with you. Enjoy your day.
What a shame we humans do not hibernate in the winter,it would be bliss to snuggle up in bed from November through to March,we could just get up for Thanksgiving and Christmas.!!!
Our weather is much improved and the daffodils are coming up all over the place, they should be flowering in about a month,I am so looking forward to that.
Oh I love your picture, it is so cozy. My son says it looks "cool"!

What a sweet little post and you are so right. All I want to do is curl up too. I love your "Ashoken Farwell" music ~ one of my faves! So appropriate for cozying up.
Enjoy. Rest. Recuperate. We all need it now and then!
I am with you - if I didn't have to get up or go out I would stay in bed.
Oh I am completely with you on this, I did not want to leave my nest this morning.
A yellow chair, overstuffed,
soft as a grandmother's lap,
tea steaming dreamily,
and a quilt like a hug.
Through the window
crackling cold stars.
Life is going so much better for me since I decided to embrace winter rather than fight it :)
I've mentally moved myself into the picture and am sitting on that chair with my feet feeling toasty from the heat of the hearth...
Oh, Jo! I am with you about the winter nesting and wish for coziness, flannel, and staying home to enjoy the cold weather from a distance whenever possible. Hope your work allows you to be home on the snowy or icy days.
Love the picture! A snug room, indeed!
I could at the pic all day long. So much to look at!
Thank you for this today!
Wonderful afternoon to you, Jo!
Oooooh, now that is my kind of 'want' day. To curl up with a good book under a comfy blanket and a cup of hot chocolate.
Oh, and add some falling snow with that!
That little house does look ever so cosy. A lovely comfy chair by the fire. Mmmm!
It bites when I have to leave the nest to brave the cold winter days. I much prefer to stay at home and stay warm. Not poetic, but...
Oh me, too! I always say I'd make a great hermit and winter just seems to exagerate that fact.
Love the little illustration...I'd be quite cozy in that chair in front of the fire!
You've expressed the way I feel on these cold days very well. As a matter of fact, we have a fire going now.
Yep, It's too cold here, too. We have all had enough, already. That picture is so sweet and has it all. I'm just back from feeding the ferals and they seem to be surviving the freezing weather. It has warmed up a bit tonight and will be warmer tomorrow.I can leave them water again, I hope. Enjoy your fire. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5
Hi Jo, Sounds like the 'winter doldrums' to me... We all seem to have them !!!!!! AND now they say that more snow is on the way.... Mercy me!!!!
Cabin Fever...technically lack of Vitamin D...no sun on the skin, no Vit D! The main thing about the snow is that it helps fill the aquifers, the other thing is all the dazzlingly beautiful snow pictures everyone has been taking. So I thank you ladies and gentlemen who live further north than I do for sharing the beauty that has surrounded you this winter! Hang on...the birds will be flying north again before you know it!
Oh, i so agree jo, just need a hearth though! :)
