Water, Water, Everywhere

Flooding update....
It continues to rain, the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency are saying this is the worst flooding since back in the 1970's....
Schools are closed, authorities are telling everyone to stay home, we've had eight storm related deaths in the State, extensive flooding, and two tornado touchdowns.

We have been hammered !

Back of the property.

Looking more like a lake, than a stream.

Thank you for all of the well-wishes, they are truly appreciated !
It's an official thirteen inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours, that's a LOT of water.....
The creeks are flooded, the Interstates are closed at various points, and homes have been evacuated.
Our home is NOT flooded, other than the back of the property, where the creek runs through.
My heart goes out, to those whose homes are, such a daunting task lays ahead.

The skies are still heavily laden with clouds, more rain is predicted all day today, together with tornado activity.

The Clematis is happy at least.

Town square still flooded.

My granddaughter's best friend's yard.

Granddaughter's best friend's four foot swimming pool, completely covered their fish pond also !

My word. I had no idea that so much rain had fallen and that people were being flooded out. I sure hope everyone is alright and that todays forecast turns in another direction. You don't need more rain.

I'm so sorry to hear about all of the flooding in the Nashville/Lebanon area. That is so very very sad. Hendersonville has had lots of flooding also

We are on the road toward the beach right now--and the sun is out. Makes me feel kinda bad though --since I almost feel as if I need to be home today. Crossville is okay--but that same system is heading toward Crossville.

The pictures you posted are unbelievable. I checked the Nashville TV channels online last night in the motel and saw lots more pictures. It's just totally unbelievable.

Please keep us posted.
Hugs,
Betsy

Do a lot of people have basements there? When we had 11 inches of rain in Connecticut last month, everyone had water in their basements. I hope it drains off soon.

You're right, the clematis in in its element. That is some serious flooding. I've been watching it happen on the Weather Channel, and I'm just glad you are all right, but sad for those who are flooded. This is just crazy weather!

I'm glad to hear you're high and dry and hope it stays that way or the folks on low ground would have even higher water to deal with.

I hope everyone wisely chooses to stay home if they're on high ground.

Hugs!

There has been a whole LOT of water dumped on the USA this spring -- flooding everywhere it seems. New England, New Jersey, New York and even the south!

My heart goes out to those people with the flooded yards and basements -- i've been there, and it is NO FUN.

Here in Monterey on the Platau I am listening to the rumble of thunder and feel so sad looking at your pictures. The train that got stranded yesterday on the way back to Nashville was here on the mountain for a Spring celebration that got washed out.
Be well and safe.

all of this tears at my heart strings, the town underwater brings back memories of Middlesboro KY when I was a child. we would drive by on the mountain and look down to see rooftops only and boats going from house to house. I know TN and Ky are being hit by flooding rains, my prayers are with you. thanks for sharing the photos with us.

We were so lucky...we drove north from Florida through Tennessee not a day or two ago, missing the entire flood incident you're experincing...so sorry. But, the flood will not overtake...as promised since the time of Noah...

Oh My!! I can not begin to imagine the mud and mess that will be left behind for so many people. May God keep you safe in these stormy times. ♥♫

Clarksville is getting pounded too. The river is out of its bank at our house...we don't live on the flood plain so we are alright. Downtown will probably see water on Riverside Drive. I've lived here since '86 and haven't seen that!

I've heard the news several times today and have been thinking of you--My heart also goes out to those who have lost so much in this storm. But I'm glad you are safe, and hope that you and your family remain that way!!

Spectacular pictures Jo. Nothing will be happening for a few days yet, I fear. Have you got enough food in to last you a little while?

Oh my, I am glad your home is obviously raised a little, but your yard is bad anyway. And as for your granddaughters friend, how terrible and no doubt fish lost too!

Hi! We are South of you in TN. It has been so heartbreaking to see the devastation the rain has caused up there. Seems like everyday I come across new pictures that tell the horrible story and as I look at your pics it is just so difficult to comprehend. I wonder has the water receded for you and your friends and how are you doing with the clean-up?
I love your blog, so very wonderfully British! Makes me want to hop on a plane. Your gardens are just beautiful with an old world charm and I can imagine sitting a spell or enjoying tea nestled among them. Thank you for sharing and we in Southern TN are keeping ya'll in our thoughts and prayers!
