"It was the month of May, the month when the foliage of herbs and trees is most freshly green, when buds ripened and blossoms appear in their fragrance and loveliness.
And the month when lovers, subject to the same force which reawakens the plants, feel their hearts open again, recall past trysts and past vows, and moments of tenderness, and yearn for a renewal of the magical awareness which is love."
And the month when lovers, subject to the same force which reawakens the plants, feel their hearts open again, recall past trysts and past vows, and moments of tenderness, and yearn for a renewal of the magical awareness which is love."
~ Sir Thomas Malory, La Morte d'Arthur

Lovely!! Our clematis don't bloom until summertime, up here on Long Island... maybe late June/early July?
Gorgeous purples! Wow! I am happy SPring is hanging around. We hear more cold may come through but today is a glorious day. Thanks for sharing and Happy May to you!
What a beautiful May Day! The cold weather is finally gone and we can look forward to lovely days ahead ( I thought winter would never end).
What lovely words to prelude your beautiful clematis. Our iris in that hue
have burst forth in all their glory. I have been seeking the exquisite white
clematis we left in CO, but to no avail. Do you have a favorite flower in your garden...?
A beautiful post.
Wishing you a happy new month of May.
All the best Jan
Ah, May. One of my favorite months. Not too hot, not too cold. Although it has been up in the 80s here and we even up our air conditioning on. Love the flowers. My yard has tons of spiderwort in that color.
Such a beautiful clematis! Lovely photos!
