After enduring weeks of no rainfall, and consequence parched dry land, we finally had rain last night.
A gully-washer of a rain, which helped our state-wide drought, but sadly today I awoke to news about Gatlinburg, our beloved Smoky Mountain get-away is on fire.
Mandatory evacuations have taken place, in both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, buildings have burned and the entire Sevier county is under a wildfire threat.
Please keep these folks and animals in your thoughts and prayers.

Such sad news today Jo. Sending along blessings and prayers that the fire is soon under control and that residents and wildlife are okay. X Chy
It looks like there has been rain in the picture. Did it help?

We too have many wildfires and they are very scary; make their own weather and roar. I too feel for the people and the animals.
What an incredible photo--it says it all! I do hope you are and everyone are OK. It is sad to see, for certain! Crazy weather!
So very sad to hear this type of news. My heart goes out to all those folks.
It is so very sad. I do hope the rain helped, at least a little. My prayers go out to all affected. :-(
I heard about the fires in TN on the news and have been praying for those affected.
JO, I am praying for all the state to be safe. I hope the fires can be brought under control. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
My wife and I were discussing you and wondering how close you were to the fires. I am glad you got great rains. I wished it would rain there again. I am glad you are safe.
Very scary when so close, we are just coming into bushfire season now.

The pictures of Gatlinburg are terrible! Those poor people losing their homes and businesses, and three people died. I pray for them.
Scary photo with the fire in the background. I hope everyone makes it out o.k. and that the fires don't rage on too long. -Jenn
Jo, I have worried every day about those wildfires and feel so very thankful for the rain that finally came. Hope and pray it was enough to really help. I worry about the animals too.
It is such a very beautiful part of the United States ... we used to spend weeks in that area when I was a kid, growing up in NC . My mom, who was from the Western US .. fell in love with the mountains and going into the Tenn mountains was a Autumn trip for us each year ..
I went to camp up in that area when I was a kid. I have few memories of the people at camp but many of the beauty of the area.
Hello Jo. We have seen on the new here the devastating fires. We here in Colorado have had our share of big fires as a result of too little moisture and there is little to be done to prevent the conditions. We pray they end soon and for those who have suffered the worst loss.
My son and DIL go to Gatlinburg every year for vaca. I am so sorry all this has happened to such a beautiful area and such nice people. My heart and prayers go out to all. Hugs, LJ
