In Anticipation

The Hummingbird feeders have been thoroughly cleaned, filled and hung beneath the tree, in anticipation of the "spotters" traveling through.
We probably won't see many until the weather warms permanently in the middle of Spring, but with temperatures already in the 80 degree range, they may be arriving sooner rather than later.

The Bluebird boxes have already shown activity of feathering and nesting, as have the little Carolina Wren houses and the Robins nests.
It's all so exciting.

Oh, there's music in the forests
And there's music in the glen,
As the birds are warbling greetings
To the spring that's come again.
All their piping is so merry
That the woodlands seem to ring,
With the praises of the birdsongs
For the coming of the spring.
Join the joyous woodland chorus
And raise high your voice in cheer,
Join the birdsongs in thanksgiving
For the springtime of the year!

Looks like a squirrel or something has had a good chew at the hole in that bird house. It's so pretty, I do hope you get lucky and the hummingbirds build in it!
Beautiful poem.

You are very good to the birds providing them with a home so that they do not need to build a nest.

Jo , what a sweet poem. I am thinking of putting our hummingbird feeders out a bit early this year. I have been enjoying the robins singing. Smiles to you , xo, Susie(She Junks)

Oh-- it seems SO early to be thinking about hummingbird feeders-- but our spring is early also and you are right- they will most likely arrive early this year!

That photo of the bluebird box is so beautiful!! Our boxes are cleaned out and ready to go as well. It won't be long--

Welcome to spring- yea!!

The little woods behind my apartment is filled with the music of the forest. I worry about the little birds getting confused with the unusual and ever changing weather all across the world. I pray the Lord will watch over a protect them and help them adjust.

We have hummers almost year-round. I've been seeing a lot of them in the past week.

The birds are nesting in the telephone pole again this year.

I am so jealous of your bluebirds. We have them in the farming areas nearby but they rarely come into town. I need to get on my hummer feeder by next month. We do have some that stay around here, but usually at the neighbors.

I am patiently waiting for the hummingbirds!

They are on the way! I hear they have started their migration a bit earlier than usual because of the warm weather. I can't WAIT for the first picture! :-)

Little birds
won't you peek inside
and see how happy and safe
you would be
to sleep within my walls.

Little birds come on in
and have a family.
I have been waiting for you.

Oh to have hummingbirds would be wonderful, but I am lucky at the moment to have, the Wrens fluttering back and forth to their box, a pair of the most beautiful lazy wood pigeons who live in the garden and are inseperable and a rather noisy jay who cackles at me to get up every morning.

We are just starting to see the birds starting to nest here too. I'd not thought of the hummingbirds. I need to get the feeders ready for them, and the dog-hair out for the nest builders. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I've been enjoying the dawn chorus and watching my feathered friends this morning. Hearing and seeing them just does the heart good, a great time of the year.

one of my favorite things about spring...all the nesting going on in the houses and trees.

I found a couple of charming feeders at the auctions that I'm going to clean up and get outside this week!
