Winter Silence
"I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure in the landscape - the loneliness of it - the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it - the whole story doesn't show."
Our garden and woods look just like these photos, the quote is very apt. I can't wait for spring to arrive,to see the first snowdrops and daffodils and some sunshine.!!!
Hi Jo, I love winter also... As you know, I love snow--but I also love cold temperatures.. I love to hike in winter.. I also have time to work on my Genealogy during winter!!!!
I love this quote. I always think TN has way too many trees that get in the way of seeing the shape of the earth. It's always so much better in the winter. Dianne

Sure looks like winter in Tennessee, Jo. There are times I tend to agree with Andrew Wyeth. Jim

A little creepy in the silence !

I used to love Fall best of all but since I've gotten old, it now reminds me that Winter is not far behind. Both in the four seasons and in life.
The landscape does show its bare bones in winter, doesn't it? Stark, and with a special beauty.
Still . . . as always I will welcome spring by the time it comes!

There is truly a stark beauty to winter. Many of the wonders of nature can only be seen during these months.
Beautiful woods, beautiful poem! There is something about knowing that there are luscious colors and dormant growth just waiting to spring into life!
I also love the perfect silence that occurs when it starts to snow. I haven't felt that yet this season.

We had summer weather today, but tomorrow it will be deep winter again.

I agree with that. The summers here are sooooo hot, I find them unbearable. Give me an English summer anytime.
