For the past several days the weather has been fairly mild, but damp.
This morning it was so foggy, the mailbox wasn't even visible.
Days such as these I get the urge to stay inside and accomplish a little spring cleaning, and so before noon I found myself up to my elbows in sudsy water, and Brasso cleaner.
Shelf-pottery and knick-knacks were bathed, copper and silverware shined.
I know, it is the depth of winter, but that's how I work, either I'm a little behind or a little in front of schedule, nevertheless I give myself a pat on the back for simply making the effort.
You really are an early bird at getting your spring cleaning done :) I wish I could start but with the wood stove still puffing away it would be a waste of time. I probably won't get started until March depending on the weather. Oh well. Enjoy your nice clean pretties!
You got a lot done, looks nice! Seems though, that we will be back to winter soon. That was some fog, wasn't it?
Everything does look shiny and clean. I like your depression ware bowl. I have a shelf in the kitchen that needs to be cleaned and I will hit it on a whim some of these days soon. You inspired me.
Cleaning is a good thing to do on dreary days! At least the inside looks all shiny and bright! Beautiful photos of beautiful objects!
Hi Jo, I spent the day today (and yesterday), since the weather is so dreary, organizing and putting away Christmas... (Kinda like spring cleaning in the winter!!!)
All done, lets go out and do some shooting of the foggy scenery !
I love being outside in the Spring so am a winter cleaner as well and a summer one when it is too hot out.
I wish your post had inspired me to do some cleaning, but it is too early for me yet. I agree that your ornaments look lovely and shiny and I love your Toby jug and the copper dish.
Our weather is the same as yours, has been for months, grey damp and depressing,I need a nice sunny day to motivate me to spring clean.!!
Love all your collectables ! I have got to get a jump on wasning all mine as well I wipe them over every week but they need a good wash ! The weather all week has been spring like .Its really foggy here this morning but slowly lifting it is to be sunny and a high of + 6 thats warm for this time of year ! Have a wonderful day !
everything is so beautiful and also sparkling and CLEAN. i love the feeling after this kind of work and standing back and looking at it. i went through the house and washed all the oil lamps and their chimneys and it changed the look of the room. i love sparkling clean and especially glass. that last photo is really beautiful
How lovely. This kind of puttering/spring cleaning is one of my favorite things to do! Everything is bright and glowing! Wonderful! My whole house needs this treatment!
I just finished a long book and am at odds as to what to do next. I suspect it won't be spring cleaning, but it's nice to see that you've started already. Maybe it will help me decide to do a little. But in January? :-)
Sometimes you just feel like sprucing things up whatever the season, and it is so gratifying when everythings sparkles once again.
I had to smile at the vintage marmalade pots!
I would have enjoyed helping you. I just love handling all the dishes and pottery.
Your depression glass bowl is so pretty! Envy. And your energy just knocks my socks off. How nice it all looks!
It always feels so good when everything is fresh and sparkling! Good for you!!
Susan and Bentley
You're making me tired just reading this and all I'm doing is sorting out a computer problem for our daughter!
I heat with wood, so I have to endure the dust until spring... or company... otherwise I'd be scrubbing every day. I think, too, every spring I have fewer and fewer knick-knacks.
Spring cleaning is not like it used to be in the days of Downton Abbey!
Me too! hubby is gone for a week so I'm cleaning OUT more than up. Thrift shop, here I come. Cleaning pots and pans are next...
Happy, shiny day to you in TN!
I love everything about your blog. Just beautiful!
Now, I'm off to polish my silver tea set. Thanks! for the inspiration and sharing. Have a nice evening!
I've been doing a little of that too Jo. If you can't go out or don't want to, then it's a good idea to get busy inside the house. Your knick-knacks are lovely. Isn't the beaten pan unusual?
Spring cleaning will be here soooon!
When we lived in the New
Forest I was able to get
Brasso and Silvo. I found
the Brasso here, but cannot
locate Silvo in TN, the
finest silver polish made.
Jo,you are a wonder in the
spruce up dept. We just put
Christmas away and need a
pause before attacking other
chores. It snowed this
afternoon, so homebound
Friday might be a good time
reboot....Have a blessed
