If you go down to the woods today, You'd better go in disguise.
A HUGE coyote came running out of the woods, and even used the gate to enter the property.
I have seen a coyote once before, years ago, but never a large one....
Makes you wonder just what else is lurking, and I've had a serious talk with Oliver the cat, about venturing back there.

I do not blame you for warning Oliver of the dangers in the woods,I hope he listened to you !!
The only threat we have are fox's who eat my ducks and raid the compost heap.
We had a Coyote that came across the Hay field early in the morning. Never came close to the house, some nights we hear more then one barking and yipping.

Funny, I saw a coyote yesterday while on our hike. It had an injured back leg but seemed to be healthy otherwise. I hope it will be okay.
I have had a talk with shag the cat to..we have coyotes here to..I love animals But I don't like the coyote...I hope oliver stirs clear of that one...take care..

We have what are called "urban coyotes" here in Virginia, but I've never seen one--I hope this one was on its way somewhere else! Be safe and enjoy your weekend!
Ugh...... YES---keep your pets away from that area. I have heard that coyotes do eat small dogs and cats... YUK.....

I've been hearing more and more about coyotes being sighted in the Nashville area. I hope Oliver listens to you.
Jo, every evening, just when it turns dark out, a gang of coyotes runs across the field out back, yipping and howling, not far from the fence. I always worry about the cats and my weenies when they come. Generally, during daylight, they like to follow the creeks.
I recently had a large coyote wander to the back of the property and glance down at the fawns playing in the field below. Fortunately, the 8 mother deer were there to protect them.

I've never seen one of those! Looks lovely but a bit dangerous. Not much of a Teddy Bear's Picnic in those woods.

Do be careful about Oliver going into those woods. While we have coyotes here in Idaho, the coyotes are being overrun by wolves that were re-introduced in Idaho several years ago. The wolf packs have multiplied and are now attacking the coyotes. A co-worker of mine lost her little schnauzer one night to a wolf. We are getting grizzlies too now moving in from Yellowstone. While Tennessee is more civilized than Idaho, coyotes are the same everywhere. I had a stand off with a coyote once while walking Bitterman, my first Yorkie. This was in Arizona at my parent's house and I had to put Bitterman in the mailbox to keep the coyote from trying to get him. I waited a long time until I was sure that the coyote was far away before I took Bitterman out of the box. Since then, I have a healthy respect for the coyotes and now the wolves too.

Hello Jo, we have a pack of coyotes that travel the creek not far from our farm and they sure make a lot of noise when they're in the neighborhood. So far my kitties have stuck pretty close to the house but they're getting older now so I'm sure they'll go exploring soon. Hopefully with our big Akbash pup the coyotes will keep their distance. Yikes! I hope Oliver pays attention to your wise words of caution. There is enough world to enjoy without venturing into those woods.
In our area of south central Virginia, we found a fox skeleton but have seen no live predators. Since we have many deer, the predators are probably here but lurking.
