Domestic Staple
They've held cake batter and noodle soup, dishwater and cocktail nuts.
Paper boats, and prized goldfish.
Through it all, simple stoneware bowls remain eloquent symbols of domestic comfort.

Hi! I don't know how I found your blog...but I am very glad I did! I am a Brit in Va....have been for YEARS.. Your photos and pictures are lovely. A friend gave me two white stoneware bowls, very old ones and I am afraid to use them, But I think I will move them out into the open and admire them once again. The blue ones are gorgeous. The middle one is special to me. My mum had one and my auntie had one and I used to look at them and think I would like one when I grew up. Then I could bake cakes and things like they did. It came to pass and now I have my own mixing bowl, which I love, just like you do. Blessings, Star
Love the Yellow ware bowl in the center. Count me in as a collector of stoneware.No country Kitchen is complete without at least a few stoneware bowls.... especially nice for rising bread dough.
Interestingly, today at the Farmers' Market I bought a beautiful stoneware bowl that I thought would be nice to have around. And these are just beautiful ones, too. They are so different than one of a kind, don't you think?

I have quit a few of the stoneware bowls. I hope to someday have a cupboard or shelf to display them as they are very decorative.
I have a two yellow stoneware bowls that belonged to my maternal grandmother and wish I could hear the stories they could tell.
Your bowls are wonderful and look so pretty with the flowers. The photo makes me consider putting flowers into a bowl here.
A kitchen would not be complete with out an old stoneware bowl or two.

Yes, I'm all about the bowls too! My hubby says we have way to many! I have a thing for old pitchers too! Lovely photos! Eye candy!
Hi Jo, Neat post... I have a big green stoneware bowl which I have had for a LONG time. It even has a chip in it---but I still use it....
