List-Ticking

Long summer days, lend hope to ticking off some of those ' to-do ' chores around the place.

The head gardener and I painted my little potting shed this week,  it soaked up the paint like a giant sponge.

Hopefully, it won't need another coat for a decade or more.

Several of the perennials have already stopped blooming for the season, and others are just arriving.

We'll be pulling, and weeding, and digging and tending, until the first frost arrives.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I spent the day at my daughter's hobby farm yesterday, she's having a clean-out, seems we always accumulate too much stuff !
We are open to suggestions :)

The donkeys followed us as we drove up on the hill, hoping we were carrying vanilla wafers, they will do anything for a handful.
Inside the barn,  the swallows' nests are filled with babies. Such a sweet sight, watching those little yellow beaks appearing over the nests, when their parents were within earshot.

Nature never fails to renew my spirit.

 

Friendships

I've been spending time catching up on long-overdue visits with friends.
You know how it is, we all seem to get caught up in the everyday comings and goings of life, and before you realize it,  half the year has passed.

There have been wedding showers, and baby showers, school graduations and birthday celebrations, lots of reasons for get-togethers and endless hours of tea-drinking and giggling.

 

I've met new friends, and forged new relationships, but there is something to be treasured about the ease of spending time with an old friend.

Of being in the company of someone who knows you inside and out, and you them, in the way that just seems to happen, when months turn into years, and years turn into a lifetime.

 

It’s like a massage for the soul. You have no idea how much tension you’re carrying around until you’re in an environment so comfortable that it all drains away.
