Hello June

June Days are upon us.

Heat and humidity are now a daily occurrence, followed by cooling, nightly pop-up storms.
The songbirds are raising their second clutch of babies.
Lightning bugs light up the night sky, and the sound of tree frogs fill the air.
The season's first garden-grown tomatoes are ripe for the picking, and those coveted sweet Vidalia onions are back in the stores.

Foggy Start

Our morning started with a heavy fog, one that didn't lift until well into the morning hours.
Heavy pop-storms are now the evening normal, and lightning quivers in the night sky.
Down on Main Street there are signs of  July 4th decorations being hung, red, white and blue adorning the town square.

June In Bloom

The flowers are happy with the rainfall that fell today.
It's a pleasant change, leaving the sunshine behind darkened clouds, one less day of lugging the watering can around.

Summer is just around the corner, how time flies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Keep Calm And Carry On

We had a humdinger of a rain late last night, drenching everything in sight.

The ground is still too wet to plant in, so the two new pots of Penstemons will have to wait a little longer to find their new home.

Eight white-tail deer were happily nibbling away on the front lawn this morning, not a care in the world, and no more scared of human presence than the man in the moon.

I wonder sometimes just who owns the property.

The county leaders have decided to cancel our fair this year, the largest in the state.

Times, they are a 'changing.
