The Dog Days Of Summer

Dog Days defines a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant, or marked by dull lack of progress. The name comes from the ancient belief that Sirius, also called the Dog Star, was somehow responsible for the hot weather.

Either way, we seem to have hit that mark.

As with most of the country we are under a heat advisory for the next week, 95 degrees and 100 degrees plus with the humidity factor figured in.
If you can avoid staying outside especially for long periods of time, then it is best to do so.

Even the birds have taken to their nests...……

These August days are tough, and I'm looking forward to cooler days ahead - But I can wait, a little longer for them to come. I'm just going to stay inside, and keep the porch shades pulled. 🙂

Despite this August heat, your property always looks lush and inviting. The heat wave seems to be everywhere, but right now it's only in the 80s in my area of TN. The humidity does intensify the misery factor. Best to stay indoors and indulge in ice cream....or iced tea.

I was going to say the same thing as the comment above...that no matter how hot the weather your place always looks so cool and inviting. You have the most beautiful yard.

Despite the oppressive heat, you have managed swimmingly to produce surroundings that visually cool and edify.
I would imagine that once indoors, your
retreat was refreshing and rewarding.

By the look of the photos your flowers and foliage look wonderful...ours is dried up and withering under the heat wave. Beautiful photos. Stay cool...September is closer than it was yesterday :)!

You have so many beautiful shots. I gave up trying to grow cannas as our area has been in drought so long that I quit trying. Great sunset shot. We have to keep shooting before the snow falls.
