Salt Box Houses

 Primitive New England saltbox houses.
I do seem to have a soft spot for them.

During my high school years I lived in a "salt box" style colonial brick house in Yorktown, Va so I do know what that is! Your little ones are adorable!

Why are they called salt boxes?

I have heard of salt box houses. In New Orleans we had more of what they called 'shotgun' housing.

These houses need little to be improved upon in terms of appeal. Such simplicity has a serene effect on its surroundings ...so balanced. Love
your miniature collection.

I grew up in a salt box house, cedar shake clad, and I can attest to their fabulousness, both inside and out!

I always wished I could build a salt box house and live in it with my antique furniture.
