Memories

I used to walk these paths in my homeland, I knew every nook and cranny.
Nowadays, it's all about driving everywhere, we miss out on so much life around us.
I think of this Beatrix Potter quote often, and smile.

“Thank God I have the seeing eye, that is to say, as I lie in bed I can walk step by step on the fells and rough land seeing every stone and flower and patch of bog and cotton pass where my old legs will never take me again.”
~Beatrix Potter

What a beautiful area. I miss the public footpaths of the UK. It is more driving here in the USA.

How beautiful, Jo. I'm hoping people will be changed, with this current situation we find ourselves in, and more will value walking instead of driving... when all this is over. I have high hopes anyway. Love, Andrea xoxo

The picture is beautiful! I did not own a car until I was in my 30s. I walked everywhere. Miles at a time and it did not bother me at all. Now the arthritis is so bad in my knees that I use a cane and the car is the way to go. How I wish back those years of walking. I always loved to walk.

The natural world will benefit from so many of us staying out of our cars and walking around instead. Thank you for the lovely poem, Jo. Stay safe.

What a beautiful photo. I used to love walking everywhere. Nowadays though, I need to ride to get around. Can only walk a little bit. That's such a beautiful poem. Stay safe and have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

That so reminds me of me,I do that when I lay in bed at night and can't sleep. i will walk through the village as it once was and go to all my childhood haunts that are now built over. so much history has gone forever and when we die no one will remember.........so sad.
Stay well and safe. Hugs Janice

It is almost magical with all the twists and turns and stone walls.
