For The Love Of A Cat
Oliver came bearing gifts this morning.
A squirmy snake......
Trick or treat.

"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains un-awakened"
I've rescued a snake from the jaws of our GSD... for real. I threw it out into the bush, hoping that it would have the chance to escape from her, but it got hung up in a tree. It was wet ground in there, but I slogged through to save it again, this time successfully. I find that our dogs & cats both want to ROLL all over the snakes more than eat them - not pleasant for the snakes, I'm sure. These are not dangerous - we live near the largest population of red-sided garter snakes in the world, & the largest concentration of ravens too (who kill the snakes but eat only the livers, leaving snake carcasses scattered all over the gravel roads).
And to think, the cats do it just for us! I never know what to expect when I open the front door. There have been several little harry animals and body parts that I didn't recognize left there. Oliver is so beautiful!
You could forgive him anything looking like that. My daughter has just adopted two rescue kittens so I am enjoying them after being catless for 5 years. One is ginger & white, not so deep a colour as Oliver & his sisetr is a tortoise shell. Gorgeous!!! Luckily we don't have snakes to bring in.
Keep posting Oliver's photos for us, he's so photogenic!

Oh, I have loved many an animal and hope that I have the opportunity again. Until then I will enjoy Oliver, amongst other virtual pets I visit. :-)

YIKES!!! As long as he didn't let it go inside.... :-)
Oh Oliver. You need to be more selective with your critters that you pick up. Love that cat.
Wonderful quote and so true! Happy Halloween!

He must love you very much. haha. Little snakes are a favorite toy around here, too.
Jo, Oliver is a beauty. I love his sweet face. His orange color is so bright. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
