The Dog Days Of Summer

Dog Days defines a time period or event that is very hot or stagnant, or marked by dull lack of progress.
The name comes from the ancient belief that Sirius, also called the Dog Star, was somehow responsible for the hot weather.
These late days of August, we seem to have hit that mark.

Hot summer days, the air thick with humidity.
Even the birds have taken to their nests...

beautiful late summer scenes! There are soooo many mushrooms growing in the yards around Nashville in the past couple of weeks. Must be from all the wet weather. I think they are really beautiful.

I say this over and over, but... I find your photos such a pleasure to view.
Had to say it again!

Looking good there Jo. Did you lay on the ground to take the mushroom photo?

As always beautiful summer photos and this August we even had dog days, it was ever so hot last week, we don't have often hot days in late August in our chilly little country.

No matter how hot, dry, and stagnant the weather, your place looks cool and inviting, and so beautiful. Poppy and I were talking yesterday about how dry and dead everything looks and he said listen, there are no birds or frogs singing either.
