She raised four babies inside and promptly left, with nary a wave goodbye.
Along came Jenny Wren, she moved into the nest, and added a few touches of her own. She has occupied her little place amongst the flowers for going on two summers, and we as dutiful hosts,
are careful not to burn the porch light, after she's settled in for the evening.
Lately the nest has been abandoned, for a more exotic location amongst the porch ferns.
I'm not certain if it offers a cooler habitat, or as with most of us ladies, she's just tired of the same decor.
Hopefully when the weather cools, she'll choose her nest once again.

It is fun to see where the wrens make their nest. I have decided that I have to clean out my one birdhouse as they didn't use it this year. Get and ladder and get it done. Your ferns do well on the porch.
Oh, I think I love Jenny Wren the best. I found one nested in a fertilizer box once. I have those little teardrop hanging baskets that they sleep in at night during the rest of the seasons.

to be so tiny.
We have four little bird houses on our porch and there are two pair of wrens to move from house to house in the summer. They're so bold, they will perch a few feet from me and just scold and scold when we're out there, and they drive the hummingbirds crazy because they'll sit on top of the hummer feeder. They're all really fun to watch. We also have Baltimore orioles who come in bunches to a feeder too.
How could she have left such a pretty little home surrounded by flowers? But then, who could resist the coolness of such beautiful ferns. It would be hard to choose from all the beautiful spots around your home and gardens, just where to build.
Birds are so fascinating. We have many bird houses, some continually occupied and some ignored. But you have a lovely veranda for a nest.
Your ferns are beautiful. We had a bird in a box with coleus but I'm not sure what kind of bird.
Its been awhile since I have been able to visit. I trust you are having a good summer. It has been so hot in Michigan my garden is a wreck. Maybe Mrs Wren is feeling the heat too. You are fortunate to have such a little cutie hanging around.
I can not wait for Fall, hope it's a long one.

I love the little wrens too. They are always finding new places to nest on my front porch and they definitely prefer the potted plants. Your ferns are gorgeous!
Your ferns are sure lush and inviting. I'd make a home inside there, too, if I were a wren. :-)
Your ferns look great on the porch, I think the wrens have found a cool and soft spot for their nest.
