Lovely Lavender

I've been busy sewing lavender sachets, in the shape of little hanging hearts.
I can't help but be transported back to the heady fragrance of my grandma's dressing- table drawers, where her Irish linen handkerchiefs were stored, between each stack, laid sachets of English lavender.
Gentler and simpler times.

Memories of grandmothers! I wish I could go back in years (sometimes).

I have lavender sachets in my underwear drawer. It's such a lovely smell, isn't it? Now I'm the granny, but I've got nobody but me to smell them. Unless hubby (who has no sense of smell) can imagine it. :-)

That is a beautiful rose pattern on the material. I remember that material as my wife years ago made a traditional dress from that particular designed cloth. I had forgotten it until now. I have quilts that my mom had made using the cloth from the leftover cloth. I like that you can remember your grandma had lavender in her dresser drawers.

That's lovely. The smell is really evocative of past times.

Beautiful! That's what I want to do with the lavender I dried this summer!
I blogged about lavender, too! But I'm eating it...lol.....

Love Lavender. Do you grow your own? I try to grow it, expecting it to winter over, but I guess it is not a perennial. Making the sachets would be a pleasant activity, sweet smelling, along with the sweet memories.

Sure wish I could grow lavender here. It is so pretty and smells soooo good. I've been meaning to order a small bottle of the lavender oil.
