For The Birds

Throughout the cold winter months the Mr. has diligently taken care of the wild birds needs.
Faithfully nurturing their tiny bodies with his special mixture of suet concoctions, fruits, and seeds everyday.
In return we are rewarded with endless hours of entertainment, and their colorful and ever-present choruses of song.

The nesting season is now upon us, our feathered friends busily fluffing their nests in anticipation of a new generation of songsters.
Bird houses have been repaired, and newly crafted, and bird baths freshly painted.
The circle continues.

“Sometimes goldfinches one by one will drop
From low hung branches; little space they stop;
But sip, and twitter, and their feathers sleek;
Then off at once, as in a wanton freak:
Or perhaps, to show their black, and golden wings,
Pausing upon their yellow flutterings.
Were I in such a place, I sure should pray
That nought less sweet, might call my thoughts away.”

Your husband has a fun collection of birdhouse. I really like the feeders for the goldfinch. We have a just a few compared to all of your flock of birds. Ours are almost through changing back to the pure yellow. I always enjoy seeing your spring in Tennessee.

Your great post reminds me that I have several bird houses that need repair thanks to a certain squirrel.

This post is so pretty! But then all your posts are pretty. I've been watching a little Wren building a nest on a shelf inside the goat barn. When I went in the barn this morning I found her dead on the floor. It broke my heart. I can't imagine what could have happened to her.

Every day at this time of year the birds start a little earlier. This morning they woke me to listen to their song. I love birds. And your beautiful little birdhouses are just lovely. :-)
