Mother Nature sent rain today.
Bucketfuls, with the odd peeking of the
sun in between, enticing you into the garden with the hope of getting those much
needed chores done.
Three days of continuous rain, for
which we are grateful, parched ground and trees drinking in every last drop.
The world is wet
today
luxurious, damp, drenched
drops hug the leaves,
anoint the still budded lilac blossoms
before their blooming
rich purple and plum
made richer by their watery skin
New leaves under the weight
droplets heavy, hanging
bowing the white pine needles
undersides exposed to drink
drink in the morning
hushed in the rain
temperature near the dewpoint
sprouts of just planted flowers
eager from the parched soil
new puddles bloom too
on the ground, the driveway
collect and gather
without the smell of summer rain yet
tears splash and spread
silent shimmers, heralds, messengers
in the spring rain.

Wonderful picture and we've had tons of rain here too.
We are getting more of that rain today. It comes down hard.
We are so wet can't dry out. This has been a long spring of rain.
We needed the rain in Texas, but now we have too much. Yet my ginger is happy and blooming like crazy. Your country lane is lovely as is the poem.

We need rain so badly. Supposed to get some tonight and tomorrow and we sure could use a good dousing. My plants are dying. Lovely picture.
Jo, Now things will really grow...I love the picture. Hope you do get to go out in the gardens...even to just walk about and enjoy. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
It is raining here now and we really need it. The garden was getting very dry. I've been hoping for rain all day.
Such a beautiful picture and poem. We have lots of rain too,, and all the leaves and flowers have rain drops on them.. and they are so pretty too.

Yes the rains are slowing down my spring plantings. But with two years of no rain a few years back I like working in overwet soil.
