The Fairest Month

"Mine is the Month of Roses; yes, and mine
The Month of Marriages! All pleasant sights
And scents, the fragrance of the blossoming vine,
The foliage of the valleys and the heights.
Mine are the longest days, the loveliest nights;
The mower's scythe makes music to my ear;
I am the mother of all dear delights;
I am the fairest daughter of the year."

~ Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Mr Longfellow had such a way with words !
The beautiful and merry month of May seemed to fly by after that long Winter.

Gorgeous photo, thanks for sharing. I love this shade of delphinium blue - I feel like taking out my knitting needles and making a sweater in this colour to wear during the winter when the days are cold and grey. A little bit of summer in the depths of winter.

It is a good month. I remember the saying knee deep in June but never knew where it originated.
