And The Rains Came

After enduring week upon week of record breaking heat, we have finally turned a corner, and now our days are filled with rain.
The grass is growing again, the flowers are thankful for the cooling rain, the wildlife has no further need for the birdbaths.
The rhythm of life returns to normal.

A break in the heat
away from the front
no thunder, no lightning,
just rain, warm rain
falling near dusk
falling on eager ground
steaming blacktop
hungry plants
thirsty
turning toward the clouds
cooling, soothing rain
splashing in sudden puddles
catching in open screens
that certain smell
of summer rain.

Beautiful! We had a little of that rain and hope we get just a bit more to make all the grass turn green again.

The poem beautifully captures the pleasure of a summer rain. Ours has been slow and steady, very beneficial.

I love the smell of summer rain too--Everything outside just seems to sigh as it soaks in, doesn't it?

Finally! Just as our rain stopped, yours began. Must be something to that, eh? Glad for both of us! :-)

Hi! Jo,

What a beautiful blessing for this rain. Relief! Enjoy! the beauty that a Summer rain brings.

We are still having the hot weather here, with no rain in sight yet. All the birdbaths are filled for our friendly critters on the property. They are loving it!

I love your poem and photo. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week!

Blessings & Hugs,
Marlene
