Sounds Of Summer

"The steady buzzzzzzz of the Katydid chorus,
the bass solo of the croaking Frog,
the steady woof-woof-woof a barking Dog
- a summer night's serenade."

~Michael P. Garofalo : Cuttings

I'm listening to the cicadas right now and if I were sleeping outside this night, I doubt I could fall asleep.

Such a gorgeous image, it captures a long-for summer evenings release from the day's heat so beautifully! I can hear the rain falling on the leaves.

The poem is extraordinary, too.

Thank you,
and to many beautiful summer days,
Merisi

Hi Jo, I keep saying that I don't like Summer (and the heat and humidity)--but I do love many things about summer: the fresh fruits and veggies, and now you remind me that I do love the sounds of summer too.. Thanks.
Hugs,
Betsy

Wonderful summer picture! I've not heard the katydids yet this summer, but that is probably because I have been indoors out of the heat.:)

Jo, I can take the katydids, the croaking frogs...but the barking dog just drives me crazy.LOL Hope you are enjoying this warm weather..at times it is almost too warm for me. We had a 1/4 inch of rain this week, glad to get it. I have to say we have had the most beautiful skies, so blue with puffy clouds. I love it. Smiles, to you, Susie

A swing in a misty meadow. What a delightful image. I hear it's been hot in your parts lately?

I miss those country sounds...sometimes at night I am able to hear the insect sounds...and sometimes even a frog! for the most part the dogs in the apartment complex are quiet...well maybe except for my dachshund Baron who thinks any strange noise is an excuse for vocalization!

I would love to swing in a misty meadow. No cicadas yet but I saw my first fireflies last night.

I love the chorus of summer!! Our woods at night and even during the day seem so quiet and it has me a bit worried...Worried if everything is okay...

I hope you're staying cool and enjoying your weekend!!

I grew up in Tennessee ( Tennessee Ridge to be exact ) and I cannot begin to describe the overwhelming feelings of nostalgia for this beautiful paradise when I look at this particular picture.
There is no place as lovely as Tennessee....an any season.
Thanks for sharing your world.
